Tyler Shough Dynasty Fantasy Football Value: Time To Buy The Saints QB
Chris Allen and Jake Trowbridge break down what to expect out of Tyler Shough in dynasty fantasy football after a surprisingly productive rookie campaign in 2025.
Tyler Shough took many by surprise when he came alive towards the end of the 2025 season, posting two 300-passing-yard games and six total touchdowns over his last four games.
Not only will this raise questions of whether or not Shough makes sense as the Saints' quarterback of both present and future, but it also raised eyebrows of his dynasty fantasy football managers—is Shough suddenly a strong asset to target in dynasty leagues?
Tyler Shough Stats and Dynasty Fantasy Football Value
As mentioned, Shough ended the season on a high note. Overall, he posted serviceable numbers ...
- Games: 11 (9 starts; 216.7 pass yards/game, 10 TD, 6 INT)
- FPPG: 14.5 (QB25)
- Comp%: 68% (T11th)
- YPA: 7.3 (20th; ahead of Justin Herbert, Patrick Mahomes)
- Dynasty Value: QB22
Should You Buy Tyler Shough In Dynasty Leagues?
Chris: Jake, before you ask, no, Cooterdoodle did not pay me to talk about Tyler Shough, aka, The Guy Who Should Be the 2025 Offensive Rookie of the Year. But I do wonder if folks will look at "Saints QB" and second-guess wanting to acquire him. However, with just over a half-season of starts, Shough's metrics stack up with his first-year brethren.
- EPA per Dropback: 0.05, 6th (out of 38 qualifiers - first season with min. 225 dropbacks)
- Passing Success Rate: 46.3%, 9th
- Rushing Rate (Scrambles + Des. Rush): 10.4%, 13thÂ
In his first season, Shough was a more efficient passer than his classmates, Joe Burrow and Josh Allen. Shough's 3.9 fantasy PPG as a rusher ranks 12th out of the last 10 drafts. The Konami Code is still a way for us to exploit the cost of useful QBs. And the Saints' situation shouldn't change.
As New Orleans' head coach and play-caller, Kellen Moore had his offense ranked 11th in plays per game. Only seven other QBs were averaging more dropbacks per game once Shough took over as the starter. With the team's other roster needs, Shough has multi-year starter potential on his current deal.
Contenders should look to acquire the Saints' QB1 to shore up the position, given his upside as a passer and runner.
How To Value A Tyler Shough Trade In Dynasty
Jake: I’m glad to see you’re an honorable guy whose opinions won’t be swayed by a payoff from Big Cooter. Err … uh … you know what I mean. It makes me feel much better about the heaps of Shough I’ve got on my dynasty rosters. And believe me, there’s been plenty of times I’ve thought about getting out while the getting’s good.
We have to at least mention his age. Shough will turn 27 years old before the first month of the season comes to a close. He’s older than Justin Fields. The man was alive during the Y2K panic, and yet he’ll be entering just his second season in the NFL. Some folks are still concerned about this, but, to me, once an elder rookie proves himself in real action, all that melts away.
The bigger concern is whether New Orleans might drop a chaos grenade by taking a quarterback with the eighth-overall pick in the draft. To be clear, they shouldn’t. But hey, stranger things have happened. Based on his current dynasty value (QB22 on KTC), I’d be interested in tiering down from someone like C.J. Stroud to juice up my roster elsewhere.
